I know I’m a little late to the game on this one, but I loved this book. The author started a twitter account in which he posted things his father said. It blossomed to this book. In my opinion it’s too short, but it is a great book.
I laughed out loud so many times I lost count. And I laughed so hard I cried. My favorite quote from his father came out of a chapter about his being grounded in high school and calling his room a prison. His father said, “Prison? This is nothing like prison. You don’t have to worry about being gang-raped in your bedroom.” Busted me up. Maybe more than most because when I was in high school I got grounded. I had a bare light bulb hanging from the ceiling and wrote an essay for English class likening it to prison. So that hit home with me.
As I read this book, I remembered back to my childhood. My dad was no where near as funny as the author’s dad, at least no intentionally so. But I had some similar things happen. And as I am now a parent, I am tempted to say some of the things that his dad said to him.
He also reminds me of Mike, who is no nonsense in his parenting. I cannot wait to read his next book “I Suck At Girls”.
